From the Desk of Father John
We hear this week from the book of Exodus in the First Reading. Moses and the people of Israel have just been
liberated from slavery in Egypt and have crossed over into the desert near Mount Horeb in the Sinai peninsula. In this
week’s reading, the Israelites engage in their first major battle since being freed from the Egyptians. They come into
conflict with the Amalekites who tried to annihilate the Israelite people.
