Formación de niñas inspirada en la Virgen María como modelo.

El ministerio Flores de María nació en 2021 por iniciativa de varias madres del Movimiento de Schoenstatt que deseaban crear un espacio exclusivo para niñas, donde pudieran formarse en nuestra fe católica y crecer en amistad de una manera sana y divertida. Inspiradas en la espiritualidad mariana del Movimiento de Schoenstatt, el grupo adoptó desde el inicio a la Virgen de Schoenstatt como patrona.

Tras un tiempo de discernimiento, se eligió el nombre Flores de María, expresión que refleja el espíritu del ministerio: niñas que florecen bajo el cuidado y la guía de la Madre de Dios, tomando de ella un modelo de vida y de mujer cristiana.

Actualmente, Flores de María reúne a más de 50 niñas de 1º a 5º grado, que se encuentran un viernes de por medio durante el año escolar, de 4:30 pm a 6:00 pm en los portables de la parroquia.

Cada encuentro incluye:

• una breve enseñanza centrada en una Virtud de María,
• diálogo adaptado a la edad de las niñas,
• juegos y actividades grupales para asentar la enseńanza,
• un trabajo manual o creativo,
• y un cierre con oración o devoción mariana.

El ministerio se sostiene sobre tres pilares fundamentales:

Formación seria y fiel a la Iglesia:
con un currículo de fuentes católicas reconocidas.

Vida parroquial:
integrando a las familias en la comunidad de St Katharine Drexel.

Calendario litúrgico:
participación de las fiestas y temporadas celebradas durante el año litúrgico de la Iglesia.

La misión de Flores de María es clara y sencilla: acompañar a las niñas en su infancia para que descubran en la Virgen María un Modelo de Fe y de Mujer, y así crecer como cristianas comprometidas, alegres y firmes en el Amor a Dios.

Girls' formation inspired by the Virgin Mary as a model.

The Flowers of Mary ministry was born in 2021 at the initiative of several mothers of the Schoenstatt Movement who wanted to create an exclusive space for girls, where they could be formed in our Catholic faith and grow in friendship in a healthy and fun way. Inspired by the Marian spirituality of the Schoenstatt Movement, the group adopted the Virgin of Schoenstatt as their patron saint from the beginning.

After a period of discernment, the name Flowers of Mary was chosen, an expression that reflects the spirit of the ministry: girls who flourish under the care and guidance of the Mother of God, taking from her a model of life and Christian womanhood.

Currently, Flowers of Mary brings together more than 50 girls from 1st to 5th grade, who meet every other Friday during the school year, from 4:30 pm to 6:00 pm in the parish portables.

Each meeting includes:

• a brief lesson focused on a virtue of Mary,
• a dialogue adapted to the girl's age,
• games and group activities to reinforce the lesson,
• a craft or creative project,
• and a closing prayer or Marian devotion.

The ministry is based on three fundamental pillars:

Serious and faithful formation in the Church:
with a curriculum from recognized Catholic sources.

Parish life:
integrating families into the St. Katharine Drexel community.

Liturgical alendar:
participation in the feasts and seasons celebrated during the Church's liturgical year.

The mission of Flowers of Mary is clear and simple: to accompany girls in their childhood so that they may discover in the Virgin Mary a Model of Faith and Womanhood, and thus grow as committed, joyful, and steadfast Christians in their Love for God.

Jesus asks us to come spend time with him. When he asked the apostles to come pray with him, it is because he wanted their presence and company. In the same way today, he invites us to come be with him. When we come into his presence, graces are given. When graces are given to us, we are less inclined to sin and more inspired to do the will of our Father. At the same time, when we are with Jesus, he will shower his blessings onto our families because his love overflows from us into our community. And, when we are with Jesus in front of the Blessed Sacrament, all the angels and saints are with us as we are in the “eternal now” and all of these visits are remembered by our Lord God.

If you are with the Lord, imagine the peace that will come since you are with the Prince of Peace. He is greater than any struggle or problem we can bring to him, so He invites us to leave the struggle with him which gives us a renewed peace. And, since he wants us to cooperate with his graces, the holy hour will often reveal answers to situations that we are pondering. He gives us peace and often gives us answers. When we receive the answers, the answers may seem difficult. However, when we spend time with Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament, he gives us the strength and fortitude to do what we know we must do. In private prayer, I may know the answer and I may ask for the strength to do what must be done, but in front of the Blessed Sacrament, he can give us this strength since he is there with us. We have the ability to be resolute in our decision.

Jesús nos invita a pasar tiempo con Él. Cuando pidió a los apóstoles que vinieran a orar con Él, fue porque deseaba su presencia y compañía. De la misma manera, hoy nos invita a estar con Él. Cuando nos acercamos a su presencia, se nos conceden gracias. Cuando recibimos gracias, somos menos propensos al pecado y más inspirados para hacer la voluntad de nuestro Padre. Al mismo tiempo, cuando estamos con Jesús, él derrama sus bendiciones sobre nuestras familias porque su amor se derrama desde nosotros hacia nuestra comunidad. Y, cuando estamos con Jesús ante el Santísimo Sacramento, todos los ángeles y santos están con nosotros como si estuviéramos en el "eterno ahora", y todas estas visitas son recordadas por nuestro Señor Dios.

1. Glorifying God by serving in my parish ministry is the purpose of my salvation:
   God has placed you in your parish in order that you might be edified (built up) so that you might work for and serve Him. To remain sedentary is to neglect God’s very purpose for our salvation. By serving, I behave like Jesus and glorify Him.
2. I have been uniquely gifted to serve:
   Several Bible passages help us to understand the concept of spiritual gifts. Among them are Romans 12, 1 Corinthians 12, and Ephesians 4. In these chapters we learn how God graciously and supernaturally favors each believer with his own distinct ministry gift!
   What a privilege is ours!
3. Ministry service will demonstrate the reality of my faith:
   Nobody said it more poignantly than James when he taught us that faith is not primarily about what we know (or have heard), and it is not primarily about what we say. Quite simply, faith without works is dead.
4. The laborers are few:
   You have heard it before: The Gospels only record one prayer request from our Lord Jesus. “Pray for laborers!” If you are not already involved, somebody somewhere is praying for you to become involved in the ministry. The need is greater than ever. The fields are whiter than ever. Laborers are as relatively few as ever.
5. Children tend to emulate what they see, not what they hear:
   When Jesus selected His apostles, He chose them to be “with Him.” How significant. Ministry is more often “caught” than “taught.” Teaching is most effective when doing on the part of the teacher precedes it.
6. The commission is great?
   Remember, what Jesus commissioned us to do is what He demonstrated Himself time and again in His personal ministry. Jesus always saw people. In the desperation of their need and in the fragility of their faith, He saw them. Social status, ethnic background, sullied reputation, gender, race, or age—nothing precluded Jesus’ involvement in the lives of others.
7. Ministry involvement enhances biblical understanding:
   Understanding the Bible involves a commitment to obey Jesus. He was careful to point this out to His over-educated critics, “If any man will do God’s will, he shall know of the doctrine…” (John 7:17).
8. Doing anonymous or little-noticed things for the Lord is like whispering, “I love You” in His ear:
   For us believers, the boss is always watching. But our motivation is not one of duty or fear. He loves us, and we love Him! What we do is of inestimable value because He orders us to it, energizes us in it, and rewards us for it!
9. I will forge long-lasting and valuable friendships:
   One of the major fringe benefits of working for the Lord is the culturing of genuine friendships. Those to whom we feel the closest in life are typically those with whom we work.
10. I will stand before the Lord:
    He loves me. He died for me. He has given me purpose. Only what is done for Him matters. I will meet Him face to face. Someday. Maybe today.

1. Glorificar a Dios sirviendo en mi ministerio parroquial es el propósito de mi salvación:
   Dios te ha puesto en tu parroquia para que seas edificado (construido) y puedas trabajar para Él y servirle. Permanecer sedentario es descuidar el propósito mismo de Dios para nuestra salvación. Al servir, me comporto como Jesús y lo glorifico.
2. He recibido dones únicos para servir:
   Varios pasajes bíblicos nos ayudan a comprender el concepto de los dones espirituales. Entre ellos se encuentran Romanos 12, 1 Corintios 12, y Efesios 4. En estos capítulos aprendemos cómo Dios, en su gracia y de manera sobrenatural, favorece a cada creyente con su propio don ministerial.
   ¡Qué privilegio el nuestro!
3. El servicio ministerial demostrará la realidad de mi fe:
   Nadie lo dijo con más conmoción que Santiago al enseñarnos que la fe no se trata principalmente de lo que sabemos (o hemos oído), ni de lo que decimos. En pocas palabras, la fe sin obras está muerta.
4. Los trabajadores son pocos:
   Ya lo han oído: Los Evangelios solo registran una petición de oración de nuestro Señor Jesús: "¡Oren por más obreros!" Si aún no participas, alguien en algún lugar está orando para que te involucres en un ministerio. La necesidad es mayor que nunca. Los campos están más blancos que nunca. Los obreros son tan escasos como siempre.
5. Los niños tienden a imitar lo que ven, no lo que oyen:
   Cuando Jesús seleccionó a sus apóstoles, los eligió para estar "con Él". ¡Qué significativo! El ministerio se "captura" más a menudo que se "enseña". La enseñanza es más efectiva cuando la acción del maestro la precede.
6. La gran comisión:
   Recuerden, lo que Jesús nos encargó hacer es lo que Él mismo demostró una y otra vez en su ministerio personal. Jesús siempre veía a las personas. En la desesperación de su necesidad y en la fragilidad de su fe, las veía. Ni su estatus social, origen étnico, reputación manchada, género, raza ni edad impedían que Jesús se involucrara en la vida de los demás.
7. La participación en el ministerio mejora la comprensión bíblica:
   Comprender la Biblia implica un compromiso de obedecer a Jesús. Él tuvo cuidado de señalar esto a sus críticos muy letrados: “El que quiera hacer la voluntad de Dios, conocerá la doctrina…” (Juan 7:17).
8. Hacer cosas anónimas o poco notorias por el Señor es como susurrarle “Te amo” al oído:
   Para nosotros, los creyentes, el jefe siempre está observando. Pero nuestra motivación no es el deber ni el miedo. ¡Él nos ama y nosotros lo amamos a Él! Lo que hacemos es de inestimable valor porque Él nos lo ordena, nos da la gracia para hacerlo y nos recompensa por ello.
9. Forjaré amistades duraderas y valiosas:
   Uno de los mayores beneficios adicionales de trabajar para el Señor es cultivar amistades genuinas. Aquellos con quienes nos sentimos más cercanos en la vida suelen ser aquellos con quienes trabajamos.
10. Me presentaré ante el Señor:
    Él me ama. Murió por mí. Me ha dado un propósito. Solo importa lo que hago por Él. Lo veré cara a cara. Algún día. Quizás hoy.
