The Twenty-third Psalm, today's responsorial psalm, is arguably the best known of all the psalms. The line that reads "Even though I walk in the dark valley / I fear no evil; for you are at my side / with your rod and your staff/that give me courage" (Psalm 23:4) connects this week's scriptures to the wonderful story of the road to Emmaus, which we heard last week.

The Lord Jesus, our Good Shepherd, is constantly at our side. He calls us each by name, beckoning us into a deeper relationship with him. That call, issued to each of us at the moment of our baptism, carries with it the promise of the Good Shepherd: "I came so that they might have life and have it more abundantly" (John 10:10).

The Interior Discovery of God’s Gift

Dear brothers and sisters, dear young people!

Guided and protected by the Risen Jesus, we celebrate on the fourth Sunday of Easter - also called “Good Shepherd Sunday” - the 63rd World Day of Prayer for Vocations. It is an occasion of grace in which we share some reflections on the interior dimension of vocation, understood as the discovery of God’s free gift that blossoms in the depths of our hearts. Let us explore together the truly beautiful path of life along which the Shepherd guides us.

El llamado del Buen Pastor

El salmo responsorial de hoy es el Salmo 23 y sin duda es el más conocido de los salmos. Los versos que rezan: "Aunque camine por cañadas oscuras, / nada temo, porque tú vas conmigo: / tu vara y tu cayado me sosiegan" (Salmo 23:4) se vinculan en las lecturas bíblicas de esta semana con el maravilloso relato sobre el camino a Emaús, que escuchamos la semana pasada.

El Señor Jesús, nuestro Buen Pastor, está constantemente a nuestro lado. Nos llama por nuestro nombre, atrayéndonos a una más profunda relación con él. Ese llamado, hecho a cada uno de nosotros en el momento de nuestro bautismo, lleva la promesa del Buen Pastor: "Yo he venido para que tengan vida y la tengan en abundancia" (Juan 10:10).

Queridos hermanos y hermanas, queridos jóvenes:

Guiados y custodiados por Jesús Resucitado, en el IV domingo de Pascua, llamado “domingo del buen Pastor”, celebramos la LXIII Jornada Mundial de Oración por las Vocaciones. Es un momento de gracia para compartir algunas reflexiones sobre la dimensión interior de la vocación, entendida como descubrimiento del don gratuito de Dios que florece en lo profundo del corazón de cada uno de nosotros. Recorramos pues juntos el camino de una vida verdaderamente hermosa, que el Pastor nos muestra.

Today April 26th, we participate in a special collection for mission parishes in the United States and its Pacific and Caribbean dependencies.

This Appeal strengthens the Church at home by supporting Catholic communities in need. It assists dioceses that serve the pastoral needs of Hispanics and other ethnic groups. It enables Catholic parishes in poor and remote communities to provide Mass, the sacraments, and religious education for their people. The Catholic Home Missions Appeal gives us a chance to respond to the Father’s call to love our neighbor.

La Segunda Colecta de este fin de semana és para las Misiones Católicas

El Domingo 26 de Abril participaremos en una colecta especial por las parroquia misionarias en los Estados Unidos y en sus dependencias del pacifico y el Caribe.

Esta colecta fortalece la iglesia domestica brindando soporte a las comunidades católicas hispanas y de otros grupos. Con ello se posibilita que las parroquias católicas de comunidades remotas y pobres puedan celebrar Misas y proveer los sacramentos y educación religiosa a sus gentes. El Llamado para las Misiones Católicas nos da la oportunidad de responder al llamado de nuestro Padre de amar a nuestro vecino.

Friday, May 1^st, is the First Friday of the month. We will have confessions at 7:30 am, and Mass is at 8:00 am.

Sunday, May 10th is the day set aside to honor all Mothers, both living and dead.

There will be a special Novena of Masses celebrated to remember our mothers. Cards are available at the back of the Church in order to enroll your mother's name.

El Domingo 10 de Mayo es el dia que separamos para honrar a todas las Madres, por igual a las que viven y a las que han fallecido.

Se celebrará una Novena especial en las Misas para recordar a nuestras madres. Habrán tarjetas disponibles junto a las puertas de la Iglesia para que inscriba el nombre de su madre.

We visit people at home, in hospitals... We give advice, food to those in need. We reach out to lonely and alienated. We are members of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul.

Being chosen as a godparent for baptism is an honor, for the godparent traditionally becomes a spiritual companion to the one being baptized in a journey of faith.  Please decide if your faith life makes you ready to publicly pledge that you have been leading a life in harmony with the Catholic tradition.
